After a successful first session of the Sing & Sign Choir in Chapter Arts Centre in March, here is a reminder of the next session which will take place on Tuesday, 2 April 2019 at 5.15-6.30pm in the same venue; the cost for participants will be £2.

The first session was attended by 13 young adults, some of whom had experience of signing (BSL and Makaton). Ffion, our teacher, led the group and introduced two songs: Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ and Cyndi Lauper’s ‘True Colours’. Everyone had fun singing the songs and learning the signs to accompany and interpret the lyrics.

The intention is to learn two new songs and signs at each of the monthly sessions, with the aim of presenting a showcase to friends and family towards the end of the ‘final’ session on July 2nd. This is a new venture for SE Wales Down’s Syndrome Support Group, and at the end of these five monthly sessions, we will be asking for feedback and we hope that everyone will want to carry on in September. So, if you want to have some fun with friends and enjoy the idea of performing in a relaxed and supported way – give the Sing & Sign Choir a try!
